I don’t think the label works for Korine here like it does say for Todd Solondz though. Solondz is a misanthrope and wants to let the viewer know that he hates certain aspects of humanity, he’s a scold.

Corman’s movies were at least fun too. Spring Breakers had its moments when it was honest about what it was and was looking to titillate the viewer with some good old sex and violence. Not when it was hitting them over the head with “THE AMERICAN DREAM, GET IT.”

I thought she hit the right note, it’s a large performance for sure but i guess agree with the writer that there was more to it than just surface level theatrics and I give her credit for that.
