If they actually have an planned end date in mind that makes me much more excited. The fundamental problem with TV shows is they just spin wheels while the show remains popular instead of moving the narrative towards a conclusion.

I loved Damon in it, but the problem is the script adhered to facts too much. Story doesn't really deliver for that reason.

Well he's a great director, not a writer. Like Fincher who is another technical genius. "What they have to say" isn't really what defines their work usually.
