OK, I used to work at a thrift store and I am an avid thrifter/flea marketer. Why is it supposed to be some glamorous burn that she was an asshole to the store employee or owner or whatever? So here’s a different perspective. I work in health care with mostly older patients, and I have elderly parents. For most of us, aging involves an increase in aches and pains & health issues. You can’t physically do the things you used to, you get irritable, your memory isn’t what it once was, your social circle…

My MIL is insufferable. (This is an opinion shared by her children) There is nothing I or anyone else can do to tame her worst tendencies. Being stoned or drunk is helpful.

I very much dislike my MiL as well. She sounds similar to yours - lacks any real depth or individuality. She also is extremely shallow and constantly talks how much her fancy (yet ugly) things cost.
