I’m agnostic on the draft itself, but if we are going to have it then all citizens who are fit to serve should be required to register.

The idea that we should forcibly conscript young girls into combat, to my mind, makes little or no sense.

Delilah is... I can’t even come up with a word for her. She’s passive-aggressive and really flippant about the sob stories people tell her. She’s incredibly rude but she insults people in such a calming way that I don’t think they realize what’s happening. I used to listen to her just for the WTF moments.

I just bought and read Lindy West’s new book. (It’s great, I encourage everyone to buy and read it.) She writes an entire chapter about what went down with Dan Savage and the fatphobic stuff, and explicitly says that he has evolved on this issue over the past decade. He’s also evolved on trans issues.

I used to listen to her back in highschool and on one show this woman called wanting to dedicate a song to her daughter who was now in a wheelchair due to a car accident. Delilah played “I Hope You Dance”. I felt some major secondhand embarrassment on that one.

My face whenever Delilah gives advice.

the woman literally emailed me right after the story went up to say “i’m glad you told that commenter to fuck off”

Oh good. After reading the article, I was afraid I had been transported to an alternate universe, in which Delilah wasn’t a nightmare disguised as a bromide.

Yes. She makes me cringe. The radio station my mom listens to carries Delilah, so we grew up listening to her. I don’t think she’s cheesy or corny so much as tone deaf or clueless. She makes me cringe.

PLEASE fuck off

Knowing Delilah, I half expected the conversation to end with her telling the woman what she really needed was to light a fire in the fireplace, pour a little wine, and just take a night off from worrying to reconnect with her partner.

I didn’t see this right away and I called Dr. Hern’s office to ask how I could donate money directly to the practice. I had a fifteen-minute conversation with Dr. Hern himself. In addition to being a hero, he is a very humble and cool guy.

Hillary be like

fuck off

How selfless and incredible of this woman to share such a painful, heartbreaking yet insightful story. So much love going out to her.

The theme was “overflowing ashtrays filled with cigarette butts” I believe. Tres chic, very romantic.

As someone in her second trimester of pregnancy and about to enter a sweltering summer (why is it in the mid 80s already, why?), caftans are my new best friend. If Reese can make it acceptable to wear them in public again, without reminding people of Blanche Devereaux, I will worship her and build an altar to her.

I almost involuntarily gave my computer screen the finger when i read that comment from that jerk...you are better at responding to that shit than me.

I decided to listen to the soundtrack first because I knew it’d be very difficult to see the show and I wanted to know what the big deal was. I have been obsessed ever since and I STILL haven’t seen the show. The soundtrack is so well done it unfolds like a narrative. Like when you read a good book and can imagine
