My Mom had all girls and “boy moms” used to annoy her so much. They all seemed to assume that being loud, messy, and roughhousing was something only boys did. She would frequently point out that my sisters and I did all of those things (especially the story where my middle sister and I were fighting and fell onto the

“Great that Dax “speaks openly” about addiction, and Kristen “speaks openly” about her depression—if only “speaks openly” weren’t a euphemism for saying just enough to be relatable and of the moment without chewing on controversy.”

Yep. There’s also this thing where people can’t stand a functional couple. Just because you haven’t experienced it DOESN’T MEAN IT DOESN’T EXIST.

This article in summary:

Such great advice for so many situations. (I also will have the song in my head all day now, which is not a bad thing!)

Think about the term “guilty pleasure” and what’s often cited:  things women are “supposed” to like such as romantic comedies, pop music, chick lit.  Have you ever heard of anything masculine-coded as someone’s guilty pleasure?

The other day, my husband said to me, “I decided not to try to reason with you about buying Jagged Little Pill on vinyl and bought what was in our Amazon cart.” I gave him a pitying look and said, “It is an amazing album. You’ll see. You’ll see.

Hang on. If they bring it up when he’s alive it’s because they just want money. If they bring up now you ask why they’re bringing it up now. So when exactly is the right time to bring it up?

Shame Goldberg all you want, but is it really necessary to link to specific articles (by real people) only to mock the work they’re doing? It’s hard to make a living as a writer. I’m a sex worker and Trump absolutely 100% gives me the vibes of one of those hideous dreary clients who either refuses to use condoms so only sees sex workers who don’t insist on them, or pisses and moans and makes the booking a huge psychological ordeal for you by endlessly pressuring you into not using one all

I know, right? I mean, it’s just so...gratuitous. It makes me love him and the song even more.

I read this Rolling Stone history of rock or some such which informed me that BR was Freddie’s parody of The Who’s “Tommy.” He wanted to poke fun at the excesses of the rock opera. This is like Mozart teasing Salieri, but still.

Oh, dear...y’know, I really thought he’d pull it off based on the still photo from awhile back. But seeing him move around and speak...I can’t unsee Rami’s distinctive features. He looks like Rami with wigs and teeth. Hopefully in full context it won’t matter.

o_O

Excellent wig work for Brian May. I know it’s not the focus but they did a good job from what we see.

There was a tweet on the subject which did highlight one difference. I’ll have to paraphrase, as I can’t find the original tweet again.

This sort of behavior is so engrained in the fabric of powerful white men that it isn’t even surprising anymore.

People do not need to let that stat go. It’s indicative of the priorities of the majority of white voting women in this country. I say this as a white woman.

As a white woman, let me just say... shut up. Really.
