At the very least, it means they’re touching their masks less often than they might otherwise. Hopefully they’re using hand sanitizer too, though.

The more important question is why are people comfortable taking their masks off and on during a pandemic- an action that requires you to touch your face.

Maskne is the WORST.

Because people are filthy, lazy assholes. It used to be cigarette butts when everyone smoked, then it became those dental floss/pick things.

Mr. Young you are being tongue-in-cheek right? To parrot others on this thread, it makes no sense to keep putting on and taking off your mask if you’re running errands, it’s nit sanitary to do so. PLUS if you’re living on the West Coast, you are also trying to avoid particulate matter.

This is a vapor respirator, not a particulate respirator. Also it has an unfiltered exhaust valve.

It makes me ragey when people litter with the masks because fuck you I’m not touching your biohazard. Which means it’s just going to stay there.

Is it just me who finds smells amplified by the mask? They collect in there. Heaven help you if someone farts nearby. It never leaves your mask.

It’s not super paranoid, it’s good sense. Put on mask with clean hands at home, go and run your errands, get back home and take the mask off. Messing with your mask when you’re out in public with dirty hands - i.e. hands not washed properly in clean facilities - is counterproductive. 

Right - it’s my understanding that you’re not supposed to take off your mask until you’re at your final destination. Wash your hands, put on your mask, leave it on for the whole time you’re out, and then take it off and either throw it out if it’s disposable or put it in the wash, and then wash your hands again. Exactly this, prevents further face touching and the added bonus of staying in the habit of always having a mask on. I get really mad when I see people leaving their cars without a mask, open a restaurant door or something still maskless and then go touch their face finally putting a mask on after touching a dirty ass…

Sometimes I am running errands and the next stop is close and I don’t want to keep touching my mask over and over.

I live in Califire (yup) and the smoke is overwhelmingly in the air, even with my vents closed in my car.

Wearing a mask keeps you from touching your face. Maybe they just want to not touch their face until they can get home and wash their hands?

Meh, as long as they wear them when they’re around other people, I don’t really care if they wear them in the car as well. Not doing any good, but also not doing any harm.
