You don’t have to worry about that with me. The European version looks nice and all, but my nostalgic connection is with the North American version.

He set a goal for himself and saw it through. The goal itself may make little sense to us by you can’t argue that level of determination. It’s something most people wouldn’t even be able to fathom. He did it for the joy of it instead of for some reward or pre-set goal.

He’s free to spend his time however he chooses. It’s not a waste if he got something out of it, regardless of how meaningless it may seem to you.

People have leveled to max level in World of Warcraft by only wearing “white” armor, no weapon, and facepunching enemies to death, deleting their character any time they die and starting over from scratch.
