I think if you are willing to approach this subject honestly, it should be obvious that a line must be drawn somewhere. If not, the logic eventually leads to acceptance of a single “open” division between the sexes, effectively extinguishing women’s athletics.

So, the federal government is subsidizing Amazons operations by allowing the company to pay sub-starvation wages, while several state governments are throwing billions of dollars Amazon’s way in hopes of landing the company’s second headquarters. And this is why they have the power to underpay. People who can afford it want it fast and cheap with no effort and understanding of the impact. Shareholders and executives get richer because of this, without consumers they are nothing. Consumers need to stop and make demands. Our society is too busy for such a thing.

The people that can’t afford it are not the ones with prime accounts and are regularly purchasing items on Amazon. The people that can are still demanding ultra competitive cheap pricing. I’m not victim blaming, the victims here are working for the companies with the VCs and shareholders that provide this market for…

This might be valid if these companies weren’t raking in insane amounts of profit at the cost of the work force they employ. It should be absolutely illegal for a company with as much profit as Amazon to be allowed to pay any employees such a low wage that they are unable to afford basic necessities without government…

Executive: We can’t afford to pay them our margins are razor thin. Now hold my champagne while I get into my helicopter to fly to my yatch. I just bought an island and only have the next two weeks to enjoy it.

And just like Walmart we’re all subsidizing Amazon’s profit from our tax dollars.

Get used to this. More n more folks are being squeezed out of a livable wage due to corporate greed.

This is straight out of WalMart’s playbook. The best part is that both Bezos and the Walton’s will argue to death that it’s not their problem. They’ll say if it was such a problem and the State and Federal government wanted higher wages it would be mandated by law.

So, pulling yourself up by your bootstraps (does anyone still know what bootstraps are?) doesn’t work? This is going to set government planning back several decades.

And religions would have been banned a couple millennia ago...

There are many, many more reasons than just worker complaints re: why Amazon is evil.

There is no ethical consumption under capitalism.

But - Pelosi does a masterful job of whipping the party into shape - except when she doesn’t. Or doesn’t want to. Because she and Schumer are basically fucking republicans

Yes, these are the moderate, centrist leaders we are supposed to be listening to, instead of those loony, pipe dreaming progressive hippies who want crazy things like retaining the prudent regulations put in place after the last Wall Street crisis plunged the nation into economic catastrophe.
