So, here’s a story. Mid 90s there was a women’s basketball player that was expected to be the ‘Michael Jordan of the WBNA’ (Granted, everybody was being called the Michael Jordan of something at that time). Nike signed her and gave her what was then a mark of great achievement: A big, expensive Nike TV commercial. In

I (cis-man) support abortion rights. I vote for candidates that are pro-choice. This “they have no real skin in the game” just ain’t true. I’m currently raising several kids. Whether or not my wife has access to abortion rights should she somehow gets pregnant again DEFINITELY affects me. To the tune of several

This is a good piece (by a Mormon blogger):

Because by their nature PEDs directly threaten the integrity of the sport itself. Getting high on an off-day doesn’t.

Yes, but...PEOPLE DIDN’T VOTE FOR HILARY.

This argument is always interesting to me. Polling before she was the nominee showed that Clinton would be in tight with Trump while Sanders would be well ahead. Clinton is also reliably unlikable. Add in the email system she used to try and bypass Freedom of Information and the feeling that the primary was rigged in

She lost the election. To a fucking nincompoop. She WASN’T inspiring enough.

I’m pushing the conspiracy that the league is trying to save the Pelicans so they don’t move to Seattle.

God. I don’t know how people don’t get this. Like, the guy on stage called Romeo doesn’t actually die. He’s acting out a plot. And yet people STILL watch Shakespeare after all these years!!

I have a serious question. Who are the 17+ million people who are watching this? I just don’t see the entertainment value in watching people fake incest and fight dragons and kill people at weddings for an hour or however long these things last.

Here’s a simple question for the problem solvers out there: how does putting Hill out of work make the lives of his family better?

Because it’s a major.

I don’t know about that. Yea, maybe the call was too severe. But I just can’t get past the fact that the Knights were the ones who gave up 4 power play goals not to mention blowing a 3-1 series lead. It never should have gotten to a game 7. I’ve seen tons of teams kill off a 5 minute major. I’ve seen tons of teams try

Yes. Also even if you shorthanded for 5 minutes you are still allowed to stop the other team from scoring 4 goals.

Having paid no attention to this series, yeah...blowing a 3-1 series lead and then giving up four goals at a rate of one goal per minute in the third period of a Game 7 is typically not getting screwed. It’s imploding.

It’s the NHL playoffs, teams are the beneficiaries of bad calls, and also the victims, and so it goes. Maybe next time don’t allow 4 goals in one 5-minute major PP. 🤷‍♂️

they also gave up 4 goals on a 5min PP. That is horrendous. I think the call was legit. Not an easy one to make, but wtf was Eakin doing with his stick off the face off anyway?

Counterpoint:

Yes, it’s an unusual injury from a cross-check. But if a cross-check results in a serious injury, the player who committed the violation needs to be ejected. That’s the chance a player takes when he puts another player in peril by committing a penalty.

The fact that he’s both good and kind of funny on Twitter has made everyone not notice that Joel Embiid plays defense like Bill Laimbeer. Despite playing three-quarter seasons and not making it particularly far in the playoffs, he has more flagrant fouls than anyone else in the league the last two years including
