Your fact is that the school expelled him.
Your fact is that the school expelled him.
I never said he was being ‘railroaded.’
Okay, you don’t think people are rushing to judgment.
Yes, because anyone disagreeing must be a ‘troll.’
I didn’t say they did.
I do believe people are rushing to judgment. Gawker commenters are notorious for having absolute moral certitude on nearly all events/topics/stories, and often times end up looking a little silly.
“I guess, I side with the university’s outcome because such outcomes are so rare.”
You seem to imply that my disagreement stems from some type of misunderstanding on my part. It doesn’t.
If that is all that matters, the suit should be thrown out.
I mean, I suppose I could retype my first comment from above if that would help?
I disagree, and I’m fully aware that rape victims often remain in a sexual relationship with their rapist.
Yes, he lost, and that’s why he’s suing. He could be wrong, and there could be evidence we’re unaware of. I don’t whether there is or there isn’t.
No one is ‘required’ to do any such thing, nor did I suggest they were.
I mean, yes, the details of the case weren’t the exact same, but it’s an example of people rushing to judgment, and being completely wrong. It’s also an example of people bringing up the accused’s privilege as some type of evidence of guilt.
There very well might be evidence in her favor. I have no idea. Nor do you. Also, a ‘hypothetical’ isn’t bullshit. It’s a ‘hypothetical’ for a reason.
Is saying, ‘we don’t know if this person is guilty’ defending the ‘attacker?’
Yeah, and people are falsely convicted every day in this country. What’s your point?
Let me ask you a question: in a court of law, without any other evidence regarding someone’s guilt, and in a case of he said, she said, do you believe that communication between the accused and the accuser should be irrelevant? If you do, we’re simply not going to agree.
I don’t doubt that, but most people commenting here would convict on a woman’s word alone, so that doesn’t hold a lot of weight to me.
No, it’s not. I’m fully aware that rape victims can and do remain in sexual relationships with their rapists. The simple point, however, is that lacking any other evidence to the contrary, it is a piece of evidence in his favor.
