My girlfriend has one, and I can confirm just how bad they are. For instance, the rear view mirror decided to fall off last week. On top of being badly made, they are comically expensive to maintain. Tires, pads, rotors, replacing stock suspension and a tune up were $2200.

First thing I noticed is that the running boards have been removed. I’m guess they are retractable off the shelf, and they haven’t made rock sliders yet.

Between the Ever Given, the air freight market and the chip shortage, we will probably see shortages and high prices on all kinds of manufactured goods all summer. This might be the year to enjoy the things you have or build your own gnome.

Hopefully it was just said with enthusiasm and love. It isn’t wrong to be excited at the idea of your biological child sharing attributes with your partner. The fact that he described his hypothetical progeny as “Sean Lennon’s”, really took away anything creepy about it for me.

Counterpoint: stupid purchases like this are more fun when they can be shared with friends. If had the resources and proclivity for this kind of thing, I would much rather have room for 7 people and their gear than 5 people and an unusable bed.

I feel confident that if you got to Jackson Hole this October, you will see that within minutes.

There is a far more peasant oriented version of these called “Decked” which is effectively long drawers for your pickup bed. They are fantastic for letting you keep guns / tools / gear safely locked up while still being able to put an ATV or lumber in the bed.

Until battery capacity or gas prices double, I tend to think that PHEVs are going to become the dominant option in the NORAM market. Having your commute covered by batteries, with the flexibility to drive anywhere like an ICE car offers the best of both worlds for very little compromise.

Lots of truck traffic is making “milk runs” and LTL deliveries within a small regional market. Even if this thing only has a range of 300 miles, I can see it being a great way to save money on routes where a truck starts and ends every day in the same place.

If you’re not already in brand marketing, you missed your true calling.

Getting support for your mental health does not preclude you from owning a fire arm. You need to be “adjudicated mentally deficient”.

Could be. Based on her grip and posture, I would assume it is a gun she has handled before.

You are 100% correct. My abridged version didn’t lay out just how comprehensive / Byzantine the process is for buying a gun in California.

As a corporate lackey, I can tell you that success in this world is all about scope. No one in that room has the skills, money or time to cure racism; but they did come up with something that makes online spaces more moderated.

They have grip fins and a compensator instead of a flash suppressor so obviously they are way safer.

The imprint on casings idea is new to me. It seems like a hard feature to implement and an easy one for an end user to remove.

Yep. It’s a pretty arbitrary process. For example, you can have just about any Gen 1-3 Glock, but Gen 4-5 are banned even that all that changed was the back strap and stippling.

I don’t hate the idea of “gun insurance”, and it’s a good idea for people that conceal carry. I don’t think someone with the predisposition to open fire in traffic will ultimately decide what to do based on insurance premiums.

I should have been more clear. There is plenty of hand gun volume available in California, but any gun sold there has to go through a specific set of compliance checks to be approved by the state. These guns are then put on the “the Roster” and can be sold:

The line on the 4473 specifically says: “Have you been adjudicated mentally deficient.” Unless you’ve landed in front of a judge for a mental health related reason, a background check won’t catch it.
