When I worked with lineman, I learned that many Cletuses are pretty savvy on how they spend their money. The guys I knew with $80k trucks also invariably had a Civic, Accord or Focus to save on gas and depreciation.

Well said. When it comes to the F-150, Ford only makes changes when they they have the research to know it’s worth the risk.

Looks pretty fantastic to me. If the can keep the basic one around the $30k the current 370Z starts at, and bring it to market as a 2022 next August they might have a winner on their hands.

I’m in the process of buying a home, and after touring 18 homes last week, I can assure you that HGTV has left a path of destruction across the American home scape. Highlights include:

About twice a year a Blazer Chalet shows up for sale in the PNW and every time, I’m tempted. Such a cool rig.

Sadly yes. The other big bet I made in this vein was buying stock in gun companies in 2018. Between Covid and Biden becoming a serious contender, those stocks went up 138% in April from my purchase price.

This is a fair point. Whenever I talk with or mentor people under 30 I generally give them a nudge on putting money into 401k up to the company match, or opening a ROTH if there isn’t a match. Most of the time what they need is someone to tell them about their options and sit with them for 20 minute to understand

Doing low key day trading is pretty low stress since I am using money I can afford to lose. Generally, it’s 20 minutes a day of work and reading. Since I know people have opinions, this is “play” money after capping out my 401k every year.

For the last 5 years, I’ve been TSLA anytime it goes to a 52 week low and selling when I see 20% gains. I could have made more, but it still was enough to make $5000 into enough money for a down payment.

My bet is that they are planning to sell to someone that already has significant investment or ownership in the company.

My 2016 Tacoma (in Sandstorm) is named Duncan after Duncan Idaho. Sufficed to say, I am excited for this movie.

My hope is that since this is being made by WB, they will use the movie to launch an HBO TV series if the movie goes well.

He died way before the US wars in Iraq, but he certainly lived through the Turks, British, Italians and Germans fighting over the region for a solid 45 years.

If you’re ever on a long drive, the audible version of “Breakfast of Champions” is worth it for John Malkovich describing the illustrations.

I went to Best Buy last week, and the person who helped me at pickup was talking about how he had just bought TSLA because he could “finally afford it” after the split.

Checklists are a good way to get people into a new habit. It is irksome to see everyone 90% of the worlds population reduced to a checkmark but hopefully it brings with it some new stories, new perspective and more representative talent in front of and behind the camera.

The Hilux would be sweet, but I’m pretty fond of my Gen 3 Tacoma. I’ve used it to pull a 4000 lbs trailer 700 miles and put in ~5,000 miles on forest roads without a single issue. With 72,000 miles on the clock the only maintenance needed has been fluids, plugs and tires. All that, and I could get it in a manual.

Playmobile is fantastic for girls and boys to play with together, and they are infinitely durable. My parents held onto the playmobile wild west fort I got in 1992, and it remains a favorite when they baby sit the kids in their neighborhood.

2020 update

I was talking to a Russian co-worker last year, and asked if he had seen “Chernobyl” on HBO. He had, and he went on to explain how much nostalgia it brought back for his fathers Trabant station wagon.
