There appear to be enough people who don’t care, and enough who to stand to benefit for powerful bad men to always be worth publicly rehabilitating. Twitter may name and shame, but for now, any behavior short of Cosby or Weinstein will be forgiven if there is money to be made.

My far fetched hope is that “cool” is cyclical. If zoomers think mom jeans are sexy and drugs are lame, then maybe we’ll see wagons and coupes return to the forefront of automative design.

Fair point. I should have said, “most white women who voted for a major party candidate voted fuck face”.

Here’s my addled line of thinking: The features in premium aspirational cars influence buyers when they go get something they can afford. These buyers influence what dealers stock and manufacturers design.

Sure did. There are no manuals available with AllTrak.

The part that kills me, is that regardless of how inflammatory, racist or dated this guys wording is, he isn’t wrong about a majority of white women voting for him in 2016. I really hope a strong Biden platform, and some lessons learned over the last 4 years change that.

This weekend, I was helping a wee zillenial buy his first car. He was dead set on a manual, awd wagon. In the entire Portland Metro area, the options I could wrangle under $20k were a single base model Subaru CrossTrek and a single VW SportWagen. He ended up buying the CrossTrek.

If I were in the market to spend this kind of money on an off-road vehicle, I’d stick with the AEV Prospector version of the Cummins Power Wagon.

Gun laws are a mess at every level, and clear answers on what’s legal and what’s a felony are hard to find. I agree that clear and consistent gun laws and rationale enforcement would make life better for everyone.

It’s time to bring back Ford’s nuclear powered concept to realize your vision.

I think it’s largely a question of where you live and if you’re willing to buy a Tesla. If you are along the I-5 or I-95 corridor, any area with a population over 5000, or with a tourist attraction there will probably be a supercharger.

Assuming this isn’t total BS (a big “if”), Lucid must be getting battery packs with a different chemistry than Tesla. Current Li-Ion batteries that can last for 3000 charge / discharge cycles have a finite energy density and you can only do so much with aero and weight to off set it.

Fair point.

A really easy place to start would be a quick test on the “4 Rules”. Having had gun fire go over me, I get the distinct impression that not all gun owners know them.

Eh - I like the bantz and the different perspectives. Between Jezebel and /pol, I feel like I’m getting the full spectrum of the thought provoking and terrible ideas that cross people’s minds.

I’m going out on a limb, and guessing it was at 3 yards.

1) It’s insane to me that he could finish the class after a negligent discharge.

Point taken. I did not mean to shit on the Hi-Point / PSA / Taurus / Kel-Tec crowd.

You got a chuckle out of me. I’m picturing it’s “I’m a service gun, please don’t pet me” tag on the holster.

I think it’s dependent on creating the right level of barrier. I think most people, when confronted with a choice between “take a test about as hard as getting my drivers license” and “commit a felony that will land me in prison” will opt to just take the test.
