I never noticed how... uh, German, Ken looks.

I'm fine with either 1 or 2. I guess I'd prefer 1, if only because I would love to see another classic Metroid (It's been a long time since Fusion/Zero Mission). Although, if Nintendo made another classic Metroid, I'm sure it would only be for the handheld 3DS (or whatever current handheld Nintendo is pushing). On a

This could be a cool service if it's priced right. I have a nervous feeling that it will be overpriced. Also, is there a way to just buy the games, individually- even if it means you have to stream the game rather than download it to the hard drive? I feel like this is competing with PSOne/PS2 Classics- only I'm not

Who would steal 30 bagged lunches??

He may not have even been born when Home Alone came out.

I agree that new monochrome games (designed with that limitation in mind) would be rad. That said, any HD revisit to existing black and white classic gameboy games would sure be nice to see in color, though (in my opinion).

But what if they were forcefully pulled off without his permission?

Obviously you have to count the wampa's arm- but do you count all the times that C3PO is broken apart/disassembled, as well?

Back in like, 1993, I was pretty sure that all games would look like this in the future. 21 years later- the future is NOW.

He's not apologizing for making the rape joke. He's apologizing for how he's conducted himself in the ongoing debates afterward. He doesn't need to apologize for his art, and I think that's pretty clear. But he was so defensive of the comic/art/joke that he went overboard and called people out and started to become

There was never a full-color remake of Metroid 2, though. Super Gameboy was primarily a device to play Gameboy games on a TV screen (which was cool in it's own right- considering the original green/puke colored GB screen) but the color function was iffy at best and wasn't well utilized until certain, later games had

The original was fine, but Nintendo themselves sought to upgrade it to color as soon as they possibly could. It was a launch GBC title and the extra visual flair and bonus dungeon immediately rendered the original obsolete. Why update a 20+ year old game visually while taking away it's strongest visual improvement?

Pretty amazing except for the raindrops. They look like a weird filter- like Jessica Rabbit's dress or something. It looks cool- but stands out as particularly "unrealistic" in comparison to everything else.

I guess. But then again- the dynamic shift between the fourth and fifth generations was quite a bit bigger than the shift from fifth to sixth generations. Old establishments like Atari and NEC/Hudson weren't ready for 3D game development and were unable to court 3rd-party support in the new generation. But comparing

Hey, Zelda cracked the top 5! Top 4 even, if you discount the (brilliant) joke entry. The only conclusion I can divine from this is that the Kotaku readership has much better taste than the editorial staff.

Gen 5 also consisted of PS1 and Sega Saturn. Between those two systems plus the N64, the library of great games for gen 5 was massive. I think someone took a look at the list of consoles that fall under the umbrella of "gen 5" and desperately wanted to make a joke around the word "shitshow".

Seems a little disingenuous to call gen 5 a "shitshow" (unless they were just going for a cheap laugh, which is what I'm guessing). Considering that the "beginning" of the generation spanned over 2 years is telling of both the fact that technology was in a huge transition (to 3D)- as well as the fact that the industry

The first game I started playing after finishing A Link Between Worlds was Link's Awakening. It's aged incredibly well, in my opinion. I like this artists rendition, except for the fact that there's no good explanation for it being based on the old monochrome Gameboy version instead of the full-color DX version.

Inb4 you guys realize you care way too much about other people's differing opinions on games.

He could have spared so much expense.
