What do you mean it didn’t work for their last two consoles? You talking about Wii and Wii U? Yes, the Wii U flopped but the Wii is the best selling console of all time in the US. And is pretty much always in the top few around the world.

I don’t see portability as new or a gimmick for Nintendo. Wii U was a bit of a failure, yeah. But is the Switch really the successor to the Wii U? Because I feel that it’s more the successor to the 3DS.
