Not to pick nits but that’s a 1969 Rambler, not a Rambler American. This would be the final year for both the car and the Rambler brand and since the brand was no longer attached to any other car in the lineup I guess AMC decided it didn’t need to differentiate the American as a separate model.

I recall there was an episode of “I Dream of Jeannie” that had Jeannie (Barbara Eden) sitting in the back seat of a seemingly self-driving Pontiac convertible. The trick was accomplished by having a staffer crouched on the floor working the pedals with one hand and holding the steering with the other while looking at

I was thinking Bob Lutz but, yeah, could just as easily be Leno.

I think the Ypsilanti, Mich., water tower is supposed to with it.

Pro tip #4: Don’t wait until November to buy your winter tires or you may be out of luck.

Good point about saving money, or at least extending the life of your regular tires. Every winter I put maybe 5000-7000 miles on the winter tires, extending the other tires by that amount.

Yes. I’m in southern Wisconsin and have been riding on winter tires during the winter months for years now. I bought a 2020 Fusion in February and made it through the waning days of last winter without them but the eco tires Ford put on the car just don’t have enough grip for winter driving. Just had a set of winter

No dealer in his or her right mind would take on a Citroen or Peugeot franchise. American buyers have made it clear, the only Euro brands they’re interested in are the Germans with a small sliver of a market for luxo British and Italian cars.

True. Both my best and worst experiences have been with local Ford dealers. The bad one was a fairly large dealer in my hometown and a salesman who acted like we were putting him out for asking for numbers in writing. The good one I’ve been dealing with ever since (twenty-five years or more) is a small dealer in a

No celery smell, just the wonky defect. I remember one of the car magazines, Car & Driver I think, had the same issue with a long term Vanagon they were testing. I guess it was very common.

1982 VW Rabbit. Purchased it new and after maybe a year or so the engine would just shut off while driving. By the time I would coast to a stop at the side of the road I could start it again and it might be fine the rest of the day, or week, or month, but it would always happen again sooner or later. Everything else

F**k, you beat me to it.

Now we know who set the California wild fires.

Beg to differ, but if it was Janesville, Wis., that  was Sun Drop Golden Cola, not Nehi.

Chiming in with the others who said any generation Corvette. This probably goes all the way back to my childhood and sibling rivalry as my brother positively drooled over Corvettes while I developed a distaste for them. That transitioned into the stereotypical “old man with gold chains” attitude I held for years. That

Yes! And they’ve been unjustly maligned for years.

Several months ago I saw someone post a comment something like: “I have to laugh every time I see some kool-aid drinking libtard wearing a mask while driving.”

And worse, this thing could have spent endless hours idling, just about the worst thing you can do to a car aside from driving it off a cliff.
