So on the one hand, I find all this to be extremely pretentious and try hard. On the other hand, . . . . no it’s just pretentious and try hard. I feel like if Christopher Guest releases The Making of Suspiria mockumentary a few months from now it would be perfect.

Maybe the best part about this is that if Lovecraft somehow found out he would go thermonuclear. An edgy New Atheist racist in the category that would eventually give us the Sam Harrises and Richard Dawkinses of the world, Lovecraft is easily one of my most problematic faves.

The book is really good, and it’s worth checking out before the show hits. Much of it reads like interconnected short stories, and I really would love if the series took that approach. I’d love it if structurally the show were more like The Leftovers and less like Game of Thrones.
