That is a misreading of Johnson’s statement, which was an observation, not a call to action. He was no Malcolm X, but Johnson signed a number of laws designed to help Black people. One was the Civil Rights Act, another was the Voting Rights Act, and the others were part of the War on Poverty. “The Southern Strategy”…
