Exactly the kind of self-righteous moral posturing we need in these trying times!

They didn’t pick “Othello,” they picked “Romeo and Juliet,” so that’s what I talked about. The so-called implication is you putting words in my mouth. When I refer to a play, I’m making a point about that play, not the author’s entire work. Or do you think I’m implying that “Hamlet” and “Julius Caesar” and “Richard

I have no idea about Pops’ actual politics, but I think his point - which is something I’ve noticed myself, and agree with - is that there’s a weird vein running through a lot of American woke-discourse that seems to assume that the entire world was always just as much of a melting pot as the 21st century US,

Maybe, and I know this may sound preposterous, all those authors who weren’t 21st century Americans can’t be judged as if they were 21st century Americans. Trying to discern racial politics in the lack of racial descriptions in a play (which is all dialogue anyway) set in Medieval Italy and meant to be performed in

Most audiences are dumb.

Am I really petty enough to hope Joker wins an award I don’t give two shits about just to spite the condescending cool kids at the AV Club?

See, on one hand I would be inclined to agree that the praise Joker receives is being graded on a rather generous curve, but on the other hand watching the sheer levels of COPE on behalf of AVC writers and commentariat has been absolutely fucking hilarious.

It should be far from it for me to disagree with this pick, as I am currently wearing custom made Furiosa and Max pins that I got from last week’s screening of the Black and Chrome edition – the sixth time I’ve watched this movie now. But for me the best film of the decade still goes to that other 30 year later sequel

Paul W.S. Anderson, everyone.

But seriously, some thoughts:

What next? Puffins?

God, Americans can be narrow-minded. You realise most European social democracies are supported by these kinds of dark folk rituals, right? You don’t get free healthcare without sacrificing a few of the sicklier citizens to the forest gods.

a thousand sub-Saharan dictators would like to remind you that tyranny is ubiquitous.

This is a universe with magic so you can kind just say a wizard fixed it cause who gives a shit?

Marvel fans have been so up in arms about “MARTHA!!!” and plot convenience for DC movies, that it’s almost funny that this movie is so full of them.

So, does that mean you are or aren't interested in a new vampire comedy?

If the show/books cared about what people asked for, it would be just another boring medieval show. Not asking anyone what they want is why this show is so good.

This takes place years before Bruce Wayne becomes Batman, so at least you won’t have to run up the theater aisle crying about that.

Your points, in order:
