Oh, you know, she's black. She should just be thrilled that they'd let her participate. You know this country has a long history of expecting black people to do shit for free and to sit and grin about it.

So, I am a person that points out the issues with jezebel and their dealing/lack of dealing with the issues that face POC and WOC.
"...a white and/or male scientist likely wouldn't have had to face this sort of discrimination in the first place."
My former boss was shocked to find out my relationship had ended several weeks prior. She was so used to hearing every little detail of my whiny coworker's life that she couldn't imagine someone who could keep it to herself.
All you've really done here is scare me into not saying anything to anyone who is going through a break up. In fact, I will now avoid them altogether for fear of saying the wrong thing the wrong way. If I did have a break up, my boss would never know it from dealing with me. I keep that shit at home.
This is it. The most privileged article ever published on Jezebel. You did it guys. WE did it.
Sweet dreams are made of cheese - who am I to dis a Brie?
In the past 10 years, the highest grossing animated films are:
First let me say that I love Tangled. It's a great movie. I understand why they made the changes they did, and if anything, it seems they made it gender-neutral.
If the robber's daughter isn't in it, I'm not seeing it. I loved that character when I read this story as a kid. She was fantastically fierce, threatening the heroine with her knife, then letting her go in defiance of her mother. I loved her. She was a badass.
I think the bigger issue here is why Disney is "stuck" between princesses that need to be rescued and limiting the number of female characters period.
Okay not to be a nitpicker but in the original story the boy being rescued isn't the heroine's brother, but her best friend. It's a story about platonic love, which makes it even more powerful in my opinion.
Wow, forgiveness is a foreign concept 'round these parts.
HEY LAYDEEZ, just a friendly reminder to not promote the MRAs! They are so sad and so angry today. Oh wait I mixed today up with every day.
You ladies are ruining Jezebel's reputation as reactionary harpies who hate men!
Hmmm. Well, alright then.
If this kid is half a good a speaker as he is a writer (assuming he personally wrote this himself), I think this entire experience would make a great TED talk for him to give. God knows the tech community needs to address their issues on misogyny too. Well done, Matthew. Let's hope it sticks.
A genuine apology from an individual who is a member of a group that is notoriously known for being extremely sexist?
What?! No "I'm sorry you were offended."?! Taking accountability? *gasp*
This will probably be identified by anyone who knew me in high school, but I will change names to protect the innocent.
