Bathing, clipping your nails and brushing your hair can be done for cosmetic reasons but they are also done for sanitary reasons. Shaving is about conforming to society's standard of femininity and beauty. There are no health or sanitation reasons to shave other than to change your appearance.

Indeed. This guy read her response and actually had the thought, "Wow, I'm a fucking asshole." And instead of repressing this and then proceeding to call her a series of unsavory names he did a little research, opened his mind, and apologized. Awesome.
