PUPPIES

The Jezebel staff just knows when it gets sold off, they will each receive a hand-written, hand-delivered message offering sincere apologies.

Not really clear on what they expected him to say? I mean, he says, “Hey, folks still working at US Weekly, this is going to be really good for you and the people who have acquired you are good people to work for,” and he says, “Hey, folks who are still working with us, don’t worry, this is part of a bigger plan

This reads like a pretty typical upper management email related to an acquisition.

he looks like an even shittier, more stoned version of John Mayer

Let’s see Herr Drumpf stick to his convictions: He must immediately extend the travel ban to Israel. I’m sure Republicans will immediately be on board.

No, it’s not. It’s not even remotely that. It’s Dave saying that he’s saved a lot of people, which is admirable, but he’s hurt a lot of people, which is horrible, and it’s hard to reconcile those two facts. Can we still applaud all the good he’s done knowing all the bad he’s done? Or does it all go in the garbage?

It’s not sad that Cosby himself has to pay the price of his crimes.

Thank you. I watched the special last night after reading this article, and was floored that his comments were being taken at face value and out of context (instead of as a callback to an earlier punchline).

I don’t disagree but the context of the statement implied more of a resignation to the issue than a ‘glimmer of hope’ that it wasn’t true.

Prince got his own, hypocritical, lying ass addicted to fentanyl so, no, this wasn’t a list of bad things “happening to” idols. It was a list of idols we lost for horrible reasons - some in their control, some out.

Knives still don’t kill nearly the number of people guns do. I think the obsession with gun restrictions is well founded.

America idolizes and puts slave owners on its money...so I am not going to criticize Chappelle for having mixed emotions about someone that once upon a time people taught pretty much was a hero no matter how much of a monster Cosby is now. Even as a black man, I was never a fan of Cosby but I understand why he holds

I came here to say exactly that. Picking this bit apart without examining its full context feels disingenuous.

Did you get that the last Cosby joke was just a silly call-back to the earlier one?

I watched Spin last night, and Rich is leaving out a key part of the Cosby commentary - that being it was a callback to a joke done earlier in the show concerning a superhero who resorts to rape to maximize his “powers,” setting up a moral conundrum of “he rapes, but he saves lives.”

It’s not. Its way more nuanced than that. MBCock has a great take on it above you.

In context, in the special, it’s a callback to a previous joke. He was pitching a nonsensical superhero to a Texas investor as part of a story on having no movie ideas, so he made something up. It was a horribly painful story about a person who could only activate their super powers by touching women’s vaginas.

Yeah, there’s a bunch of pearl clutching going on.
