Only fat people with different political views. Those disgusting porkers are fair game.

But not the larger problem, who was at the parade doesn’t fix a damn thing. But who isn’t showing up at the polls is why we are at this point in history. So stopping the parade did what? While voting for someone that has agenda that will help you is much more important. Voting is how people get selected for jury duty.

Amazing that Democrats keep losing elections.

All true, more apt “Only a fool fights in a burning house” - Klingon proverb.

Save that picture for this guy. Lot of rainbow flags and non black people laying on that street together.

Infighting is unfortunately becoming the norm. Disruption of causes, my point is more relevant than yours, Oppression Olympics and yada yada yada ad nauseum.

I can’t believe blm is still pulling that race card on police please just please give it up already. If blm actually got what they wanted with a ban on police cities would turn into festering shit holes

This a bazillion times.

That’s the problem, plenty of protesting but no political action. Just like Occupy and Bernie Bros, can’t see for forest for the protest. King had a strategy protest to get the vote use the vote to carry out an agenda. Now if you can’t get your A$$ to the polls to vote disrupting a parade isn’t going to do a damn

That’s what you get with the left. They don’t understand that free speech isnt the same as free from consequences. She probably should have designated the interview as a ‘safe space’, and the magical warding would have protected her.

Fuck you. I’m tired of this narrative that gentrification is a bunch of white people going “This predominantly black neighborhood looks nice, lets move there and change everything about it.” If I could afford to live somewhere that wasn’t once an abandoned crackhouse, don’t you think I would? My choices are between

And for the first time in history, The Root doesn’t want to talk about race. How surprising!

Better businessmen than racist academics like this woman.

White people leave an area: “Shame on them! White flight is bad!”

Yep. It makes me feel dirty, but you shouldn’t go on national television and discuss the benefits of segregation.

Care to cite some case law for us on this one? Seems like she violated the terms of her employment. Hardly a free speech issue.

The crazy thing is she teaches Mass Comm and therefore should know how to present herself in a public setting. There are so many things she could have done or said that would have presented her position without being insulting and reflecting poorly on her employer.

That said, she’s an adjunct at a community college.

I guess no one is going to go there.... and seems absent from the comments.

I think we need to be careful about how we are communicating gentrification. When I read your piece, if I replaced Blacks with Whites, it easily read as a piece from St.Louis white residents wondering why so many blacks are moving in. When considering whites moving in to black neighborhoods consider these questions:

We couldn’t find any data on kale sales or the percentage increase in smoothies consumed, but trust us, Brooklyn is gentrifying.
