"Mr. Romero's take on the role was notoriously difficult & hard-edged. You really didn't know what he was going to do next. Like when he showed up on the first day & refused to shave his mustache — telling the make-up artist to 'just paint over it,' & nothing more: that was when we knew this guy was truly going to the

Occam's razor says so.

An intriguing premise & great, committed performances completely unwound by a ridiculous climactic reveal on the level of TOMORROWLAND. As for this video essay? Bad Job, Internet. Quit with the pop-philosophy video essays.

Wait, but why does Brad Pitt sound like somebody (Terrence Malick?) has got a gun to his head as he reads those lines, the discomfort painfully audible in every word?

He's wrong.

Agreed. Richard is EASILY the most awful of the "awful," if we're really getting down to it. Just because he's a better coder than Dinesh doesn't make him less maladjusted & douchey & dickish. Yes, he's charming as a character, & no, I don't really care to rank everybody, but since these reviews, week by week, keep

Wait, why is Dinesh an "awful person" again? I thought he was just maladjusted & kind of pathetically immature. But "awful person"?

Only one guy at your wedding?

Yes please. George Miller to the rescue please.

PLEASE keep at least SOME of the music if they do this. No Hans Zimmer-iffication or featured rappers or pop stars necessary. (Nothing against the Zim, rapping, or pop starring; it's just the music in AKIRA is so awesome & so integral to the FEEL of that movie…it'd be a shame to replace it and/or water it down.)

I love how many people were intent on this whole "Vince Vaughn's performance was SUPPOSED to be like that! That's the CHARACTER being a bad actor!!!" thing. I mean, come on. It was a shit performance, stunt casting gone wrong all around.

I love how he calls himself "Mick'onna'hey" in the third-person. & by "love" I mean "??"

Me too, & it gave me the strangest feeling of dread, like, "Oh no, Jerry, not again!!" although I'm not sure what the "before" part to that might've been.

Also, if anyone is curious to see another very very short but very effective & affecting film by Yorgos Lanthimos: https://www.youtube.com/wat…

I'm surprised nobody recognized M. Denis Lavant, he of Leos Carax's films, but also of the Thom Yorke / U.N.K.L.E. music video 'Rabbit In Your Headlights,' directed by Jonathan Glazer.

When will people stop using the term "reactionary" to mean "reactive"?

Nicolas Winding Refn would probably say "Whoa bro, that's some heady shit" & then laugh & then sip his cocktail, adjust the security blanket he wears around his torso (compliments of Alejandro Jodorowsky), & then stare off blankly into space.

Hollywood is overrun with Crone's Disease. Pray for a cure.

Lust the dust.

Isn't it so wonderfully strange to go into the first season of a show sans-creator/-showrunner (the SIXTH season at that) with the forgivably nagging feeling that this has every possible reason to be a superfluous, sputtering-out season of going-through-the-motions-television, only to be so close to the end & actually
