He's an experienced driver. That's my point exactly. He shouldn't have lost the car like that in a straight line. It doesn't have that much power, has street tires, and has a setup that is at least decent.

Sure you lose grip for a moment but as soon as you get out of the puddle you're going to have some grip again. Then your fronts are going to grip before the rears unless you did something really stupid with the steering. So then you just need to countersteer to keep the rear form overtaking the fronts. So unless the…
An F1 car mid corner on a track with other cars is a lot different than a road car in a straight line essentially by itself.
It depends. My point is the same though, you have a lot of time to catch a road car before it spins in a straight line.
yes the rear tires don't have much friction for a little while but as soon as he felt the car stepping out he could have lifted and countersteered. Not much different from driving on ice.
I have been sideways in snow at over 70 and I have been sideways in the rain at about 100. The car doesn't just go from straight to backwards. There is quite some time where its going to be sideways where you can cut some throttle and countersteer. I'm not saying he intentionally started the oversteer, I'm saying he…
The car takes time to go from straight to sideways to backwards. He should have just thrown in some oppo and lifted some. And yes I have been sideways at over 100, its really not much different than at 60.
Really did not like Clarkson spinning the BMW and then bitching about it and RWD the rest of the review. We all know he can power slide and that had to be on purpose. You don't lose a little car like that in a straight line...
I think its kind of cool honestly. It has to be a lot of fun for the money. Even if the soft top makes the chassis flex noticeable its still insanely fast and realistically you're not getting a street car up to the kinds of speeds a hard top's aero advantages are noticeable.
I have to ask why everything needs to change so often. I've only been visiting Jalopnik for 2 years but the website seems to change so frequently. It seems as soon as I get to the point I forget about the format it gets changed again.
I'm sure it was. Way to ruin it for everyone Epsilon...
Oh boy. This is going to make the rally a pain in the ass for every team involved. My understanding us that right now the teams have special permits that allow them to move their equipment without as many holdups at certain borders.
Yeah some people aren't as capable though. I mean I have a hard time doing it and I know what I'm doing.
The time when power really helps is when you're merging on the freeway. I've owned a lot of shit cars and its really bad when you have a short on ramp that's up hill and there isn't a lot of room to merge.
Is this car slow? Does anyone have any experience with it? I'd think 100-125 horsepower in a 3000# car is going to be awful. That's a worse power to weight ratio than a lot of shitty 90's econoboxes. That's getting to the point its borderline unsafe.
Even if its called the Knob Gobbler?
My understanding is that you can be there for a few days and not exceed the recommended maximum dosage of radiation. That said its still sketchy.
Time to start bitching about the lack of naming scheme. They now potentially have 3 cars with random alphanumeric names. Next thing you know they'll release an SUV with the P1 engine and diffuser called the QXpi/73
I am cheap but I actually have snow tires on my current car. That said I admit I don't need them. I could just drive slower like I have in the past. It just comes down to grip, if you have less of it you should drive slower.
-19c is right around 0F. That's not that cold really. Just wondering how bad it is there because like I said if its anything like the midwest there are maybe under 20 days a year where snow tires would even make a difference. Even if it is colder its not like a normal person is at the limits of grip.
