I have lived in Raleigh my entire life, grew up in a conservative, Christian, Republican family, and I can assure you that no one in Raleigh has ever said that.

My parents emigrated from Detroit to Raleigh in the late 70s. My wife’s from Connecticut in the early 90s. Having visited those places rather frequently, I can assure you that the level of everyday politeness and thoughtfulness is several orders of magnitude higher in Raleigh.
