So, you’re going to replace the Yugo?

It’s not uncommon but for years manual boxes didn’t even have 1st gear synchros, some still don’t. 99% of driving only involves going into first at a stop.

Excuse me, I misspoke.... It stops the countershaft spin.

Do what?

People who use torque wrenches are oblivious to the capabilities of air tools.

That means your 1st gear synchro is worn out. Pulling into 2nd stops the mainshaft from spinning so when you push it into first there’s less synchronization to accomplish.

That’s a good habit, just for the occasions when you’ve got a gun, big bag of weed, etc., in the glovie.

I do the same thing. I feel like it cuts the amount of shock loading on suspension wear components.

I’m comfortable saying I know everything about my car, and a good bit about most everything that runs on public ways. After 100k miles there’s witchcraft involved, so get on board.

As a career mechanic, I will validate this. I make a point to NEVER talk shit about my car within earshot, and give Betty (that’s Black Betty, my Acura) a daily affirmation of what a good car she is and what good care she takes of me.

That’s exactly what it is. Can’t remember exactly where but I just saw or read something about it recently.

Every village needs an idiot.

How about $4k and you leave it the fuck alone? This bitch is prime 4BT material if I ever saw one. Right fuel system and gear ratios ready to go. We can make the transmission work, we have the technology. A few seals after that and I’ll have a truly useful vehicle.

So, daddy had a C5 Z06 when you were a teenager, huh?

If you need those at all, you should probably carry them in the car with you.

Not if it’s windy.

Great piece, David, I want to see this place for myself now.

Fake news!

That’s not a theory, that’s actually what happened.
