I think his point is that Coco is not just a response to Book of Life coming out, like some keep implying. Bottom line is that there is emerging interest in mining Mexian themes by various studios, and Dia de los muertos is an obvious place to go for an animated film.

The fury with which Jar Jar (a character created to entertain kids...and he did...entertain kids) is treated by the masses of (at the time) 20-30 year old asshole fanboy men...is pretty much the height of Star Wars Fandom bad behaviour.

She ran across No Man’s Land and faced down machine gun fire solely because she saw a crying woman in the trench begging for help for the town she came from.

The Klingons are massively problematic and it remains to be seen if they even attempt to address it.

The Klingons underwent a massive change between TOS and TMP. DS9 and ENT’s efforts were foolish and made no sense, they tried but you just dont genetically grow or lose major bone structure in the course of a few min (as per ENT)

Discovery has certainly fucked over the entirety of the Star Trek universe”

Wife and I watched this last night. To my fair surprise, she was riveted. If this is how ST:D is going to be, I am all for it.

I feel goddamn excited. The only depressing part about the whole saga is how bloody negative io9 has been about it. I mean, how begrudging is this ‘article’ for example?

I hate that I’m even speculating on this, but maybe it’s because hair products are the most phallic things they own (that’s not just a sex toy) and they know no one else is gunna touch it? Also, they’re usually in the bathroom, and privacy, etc.

Welcome to post-Charlie Jane Anders and Annalee Newitz io9. Apparently Rob Bricken sent out an internal memo which said all io9 reporters were to stop giving a shit about editing and do the barest minimum research on any topic.

Oh god that reminds me of when Apple had that big reveal for their innovative new “live photos” or as everyone else called them “videos”.

My favorite part was the “airpower” WTF it’s wireless charging dammit!

But but...it’s the first time in an iPhone! smh. I was afraid the whole of Cupertino was going to cave in on itself from rectal spelunking Apple was doing at the start. Video of the new campus. Video of people taking pictures of video and images of the campus with their iPhones. Steve Jobs x 10. Then calling

The problem is that Apple users actually don’t know it’s already out there.

I’m disappointed. They try to make it sound like it’s such a leap forward from the iPhone 8 and really there is nothing there.

Maybe you saw some lights that were not represented in the video above, and I’d believe you, but the lights in the video are clearly transformers blowing and/or power lines/poles falling down.

I’m sure there is some kind of natural thing causing some of the flashes reported in other earthquakes. But the video shown here, they are clearly transformers or trees or other objects hitting power lines or power lines simply falling.

The flashes aren’t high in the sky. They’re flashes from the ground illuminating the clouds. If there were no clouds present, you wouldn’t see it in the air.

Yeah, that’s the first thing I noticed: it’s coming from the ground. It seems pretty clear that this is some sort of electrical flash. You gotta think that during an earthquake, high voltage lines and transformers are swaying and touching things they don’t normally touch, leading to arcs and flashes.
