Where you're measuring interaction behaviour, that's quite correct. It would be wrong though to write it off for things like direct stimulus and perceptive research. And social psychology is a social science - psychology is a physical science.

It really depends on the institution. You wouldn't survive in the UK if you depended on social research as a psychologist. Sure, there are social psychologists, but neuropsychology is becoming synonymous with psychology - it is absolutely a physical science.

What the actual.. I guess the confusion is easy, many Americans who came to my university were expecting Psychology to be all about 'feelings'. When they saw the subject matter for the first year being how visual stimulus is converted to word-forms and processed for meaning, many dropped out.
