Another great book that came out last week: LUMBERJANES.

I haven't read Secret Warriors, but I did want to give SHIELD a try.

DC takes three thousand years to actually release their trades, which is more than a little frustrating.

Around the start of the second arc, I went back and reread my "Zero Year" issues in quick succession. The start and stop, start and stop of monthly comics hurts it more than anything, because altogether, its stronger.

His creator-owned stuff is much stronger than his corporate work. "East of West" and "Manhattan Projects" are both ace. But I never could get into his "Avengers/New Avengers," "FF," and "Fantastic Four" runs.

That's pretty much exclusively Marvel. I mean, the quality of DC's books don't match to their prices, but usually they only pass the $20 mark if there's over 12 chapters in the book.

I was out of town for the weekend, and only had:

This is sad. He's been one of my favorite writers of all time. "Solitude," "Love in the Time of Cholera," "Chronicle of a Death Foretold," and his short stories…make you glad literature exists.

Jeff Smith's BONE inclusion? That one was a surprise. Like a "Wha—?!" moment.

AGREED.

That's a little unfair, because DKSA is obviously Varley getting a computer and Photoshop and just going bonkers. Which I think is especially true with a lot of the early 00s coloring processes. It's like they got a new toy and had to play with every single feature simultaneously.

Lumberjanes 1 — So. Good. To the max. I highly recommend everyone picking this up. Boom BOX and Boom Studios are killing it and I think a lot of it is they've been dipping into the webcomic world and giving these cartoonists a chance.

Yeah. It's like 10 issues for $16.99 or something. And it's really good.

As I've been working through my own comic, I've developed the most respect for the color process and colorists. And it was great when Image started printing colorists' names on the covers, and even better when Marvel started doing it as well.

That was the only reason I picked up Hawkeye originally as well. And I like that Fraction is very big on making sure both Aja and Hollingsworth are credited when talking about the art.

Just two so far:

I'm more inclined to agree with you. I don't think Soule is a strong writer at the best of times and I found the things he was leading Swamp Thing through, when I was still reading the book, were generic and bland. And the bad characterization seems to be a constant of all his books, because Soule is just…boring for

I like BKV's run a lot. And Alan Moore's is classic. Good choices.

You forgot Lemire's "Green Arrow."

I think it was the choice of stories.
