OK, this - what happened to the messaging? Isn't this the point, helping women decide how to plan their families? Birth control and infertility? All I ever hear from my cohort of hipster 30-somethings is about how they are fulfilling their biological destinies with babies, babies babies! And well-off parents or

If that's so, I want to hear more about that version of Jen! Come on Jez.

She's only 40! I didn't know, just that she's been around a long time. Hey, I'm 40 and I feel like an "older" woman sometimes. Just glad to see her looking so great.

She looks gorgeous and sexy and strong. Hooray for older women!

I never thought that because I know women like that who are not lesbians. It's funny, the term "gender non-conforming" is usually applied to trans folks, but it's just as apt a description of people who don't fit gender stereotypes but aren't gay.

I want to know what the racist things were! Like, I want to be happy that a woman of color won, but am so not surprised by the awfulness of the people and the system they're a part of.

Bless you for finding this.

I thought this article was going to be more of a critique of the essentialist feminism that equates womanhood with childbirth and views popping out babies as nature intended to be some kind of earned achievement. But no.

For me, I think I've always been more outraged by homophobic bullying and more queer friendly because I was bullied as a kid (for being smart, a minority, nerdy) and connect with that outsider feeling. Also made me realize how brave it is to be openly gay in this world. But I would never compare my burdens.

It sounds like you are very fortunate and I'm very happy for you. I'm pretty sure that all the women you say "you can do it if you want to" about having kids don't have the same kind of "overwhelming support" that you do and know full well that they can do it "if they want to," and maybe they don't want to but don't

Sometimes I feel like these conversations of "let's pat all women on the back who choose no kids or to postpone kids for being super progressive!"

I love maroon shirt! I bet she's wishing she had skipped yoga that day. I still think white tank top is an open question.

Yeah. That's true too.

Alicia never did it for me, and it sounds like Marshall Herskovitz has a crush from the way he's going on about her. But I think Claire's larger features went well with the character's mooniness and melancholy. I wouldn't say it's about "pretty," though.

She could be South Asian, she just looks darker than the rest, but not necessarily African-American. And not all brown people show consistent solidarity with African-Americans.

I was reading this last night, and something was bothering me. There are a lot of reasons women cite for putting off children. Some of them really are practical concerns, and sometimes it's more that they don't want them right then or maybe ever. Having to defend your position against people like you who constantly

Real mature.

Yes. I don't like what she did but I'm tired of everyone acting like she's the first, worst, and only offender. She's an easy target, for sure.

Ha!

Agreed. AGREED!
