Ugh. I think it’s about white people from the burbs moving to NYC and using it (along with other vernacular here) to signal belonging, but not actually knowing anyone of Puerto Rican or Dominican heritage (aside from the support staff at their offices or the one conflicted girl in their college social circle). It’s…
I just looked up Cornel West on Wikipedia because I thought wow he must come from a pretty rough background to be lobbing those rocks at Coates. But nope. He grew up in Sacramento. His father (also a Baptist minister) worked as a contractor for the Department of Defense, his mom was a school principal. Then he spent…
This happened to me too in London Heathrow. I must have matched a description with my olive skin and wavy hair and vaguely ethnic clothing, and I got felt up tho-rough-ly by a security personnel. So much so that other people were making eye contact and sympathetic sounds at me.
Yeah. I think it’s telling that no one is coming to her side to show support.
Some of us have a type, sadly.
Also he’s white AF and everyone thinks he’s brilliant.
OMG yes.
Great list, but the Airport lawyers do not work for ACLU. The millions they have raised are NOT GOING TO DIRECT SERVICES, including the interventions performed at the airports.
Thank you for writing this. I am also trying to understand my black women friends who sat this one out. It seems to me that the organizers listened to the initial complaints about the whiteness of the organization, and reached out to awesome women of color (including Linda Sarsour, who is amazing if you don’t know,…
Nobody likes him. He’s embarrassing. Everyone feels sorry for his wife.
Is she BECKY?
Nope, it will be better. Have you seen his cabinet picks?
I thought so too, and then I saw him on the Super Bowl halftime and he was amazing. Just a great performer. But otherwise, yeah.
CURLY HAIR? Jesus what kind of Nazi Klan stronghold is this where she lives?
Thank you I was tired of reading comments from that better call saul probate lawyer upthread. This explains it, although I still can’t believe NY doesn’t consider testamentary intent. We have some antiquated laws because our state legislature is so busy stealing our tax dollars.
the lawyer’s lament. lol
Isn’t there a basis to argue that the owner’s clear intent was to leave the building to his partner? I thought it wasn’t necessarily either/or if there is no valid will, if there is evidence as to intentions.
It’s okay - I felt that way too at first but I’m really glad I did click and read the whole thing.
She’s amazing. I want to be her friend. Whoever you are thank you for telling your story and for being a cool ass woman. And I’m sorry you had to go through that. Again, thank you for your story and all the information.
