Good to see Mercedes finally found a way to make the G wagon heavier. Let’s add a 1000lb battery to a 5500lb car

Nope, not just you. I appreciate the tech stuff, and the detail, but best case, they're... busy, and worst case, outright gaudy I think.
Its packing arguably the worst motor Toyota ever made. The boat anchor 3.slow. If you live in a state where you can do the 3.4 swap, go for it. As much as I love the first gens I'm sticking to those with the 22RE
I don’t think there is any other sensible choice for MB with the G-Class. They may be very capable (and an electric version probably still will be), but what percentage of people who buy these things actually take them off-road for any extended trail or overlanding trips where that kind of range is needed?
I had to scan past 21 fucking ads to get to the end of the article.
I was watching some videos from those Pagani rallies they make all over the world and it looked like vast majority of the owners never use the gas pedal. All slow convoys on roads surrounded by photographers taking pics for the gram.
I’m a *firm* beliver in, the best way to survive a crash is to avoid it. And the best way to avoid one is to be a better driver!
I am. My motorcade isn’t cars. It’s tanks. Get good. :D
Obviously I don’t ride in the Cullinan, it’s just one of the many support vehicles in my motorcade. You sound like one of those peasants with less than 6 cars in your motorcade. Scoff.
Exactly! I’m all for this idea. I will never consider buying an EV unless I can still row my own gears simulated or not. Also it does need to be a stick with a clutch like you said. I would not be ok with paddles only.
I would LOVE an electric car with a simulated manual stick and clutch setup. In a previous post a while back I outlined, what I felt, is the most viable way to make a manual EV. In short, it’s all simulated. You’re essentially playing a video game with your real world driving. The stick and clutch pedal are just…
This car isn’t going into production, so EPA certification isn’t the reason.
I love stories like these. Here is a purple near worthless W203 with a bunch of ‘shady’ aftermarket labels and mods. Who wants this piece of... wait a minute. Oh, it was specially built for the former head of AMG and RENNTech North America? Nice. Not quick by today’s standards but awesome all the same.
Makes sense to me—that way when some hooligan pries the first one off, you’ve got a spare signifier to indicate that your car is a Merc. You wouldn’t want someone to mistake your car for a Lexus or (god forbid) a Genesis.
In my area, it’s young moms who want something where they can easily move a kid in and out of a carseat and has some cargo space, and (more often) older moms who are past the phase of carpooling or getting the family of five plus dogs and stuff anywhere but still want something with more size than a sedan.
