I’m touched that you remember me!
I’m touched that you remember me!
You’re killing me!!!!
Well, you just made me cry. Good job!
Hate to be that guy, but "begs the question" doesn't mean "raises the question", it means an entirely different thing.
Huh. I didn't realize that. Thanks for the info.
I was under the impression that RDJ is contracted through to Avengers 3. He signed a 6 picture deal: 3 Iron Man movies, 3 avengers movies. Chris Evans signed the same deal (3 Cap, 3 Avengers), so by the time Avengers 3 comes around Chris and RDJ will both be on their last movie, contractually. So Avengers 3 pt. I will…
You couldn't even finish it? What was the issue?
Like I said, its hardly gripping filmmaking, and it really drags the film to a halt right when the story should be ramping up. But taken on its own as a deconstruction of the ideas of the Chosen One and The Matrix, its fascinating stuff. You can really tell the Wachowskis were brimming with complex ideas about the…
Exactly this!
As much as I love the Marvel movies and their current run as the go-to blockbusters, its great to know that there are people out there taking the blockbuster format and playing with it, introducing new and fascinating techniques and tricks to an old hat genre.
And it was all too easy to dismiss on face value what with the "crazy" casting, stunt makeup and genre-hopping stories.
This.
Speed Racer is incredible and you WILL like it.
Just in the sense that some of its segments hit their stride a little bit better than others. That kind of tonal shuffling is difficult, and sometimes it worked, sometimes it worked a little less well.
I imagine that would make them about 80% more entertaining. Though I can't even comprehend how confusing The Architect's speech at the end of 3 was in that format.
There are certain transitions and images from Cloud Atlas that I think about often. That is a very rare thing.
I forgot they even made that! Speed Racer has won them a lifetime of goodwill from me. And while Cloud Atlas didn't exactly succeed in everything it was trying to do, it gets a TON of points for ambition and scale and shear fucking filmmaking verve.
THANKYOU! All these people seem to be lined up to criticize a thing that isn't even out yet. Even if you hated Cloud Atlas & Speed Racer (and hence lack a soul) this trailer is new and gorgeous and unlike anything else out there, so why is everyone so down on it?!
Apart from the Matrix sequels, I absolutely don't understand what there is to hate about the Wachowskis' films!
Not quite the kind of games you're talking about, but I went to a MTG pre-release event for the new Khans of Tarkir block and got absolutely destroyed by everyone else at the event. I spent the rest of the weekend trying to incorporate the new cards into a reasonably competitive deck.
