This is bizarrely prescient. I am currently working on a ~5 hour playlist for my in-laws 40th wedding anniversary party, so was just looking through many lists of "Best Songs of the 70s". Most of these made it to my list, but I feel like my MIL wouldn't appreciate Joy Division.

My good friend Kev once referred to it as "Butt Jumanji".

I like Aukerman, and a lot of the time the podcast was really funny, but it was the rambling nature of it that I couldn't take. The lack of structure and the choppiness of it really put me off. I guess I should check out the show!

I've never watched the show, and I REALLY couldn't get into the podcast. Is it worth investing some time into?

My wife says Baggle. She's the Britta of my life.

I pronounced it like myopic for years until my dad heard me and laughed at me till I stopped.

Oh cool! Even more to check out! I'm loving the downplayed, dark production on this new record.

That's his debut, right? I've been meaning to listen to that.

How does that work? Are the ships procedurally generated too, or is there a stock set? Where do you find ships? (I have not played NMS but I'm dying to)

I remember one of my initial bugbears with the show was that they heaped mystery on mystery, seemingly just for the sake of it, more interested in the mystery itself than any solution. I wonder if that frustration will be lesser or greater knowing the ultimate payoff isn't coming.

I know that seasons 4 and 5 are widely regarded to be the best, and I suppose I should give it a fair shot. Tell ya what, when I have the free time, I will give it another go.

After reading enough of your comment to get the gist of it, (approximately half), I concede that you have a fair point.

It's something I kind of want to return to, partly to see if I was wrong this whole time, but partly to give myself more ammo for tearing it down on the internet.

I'd be curious as to how they take to it in a decent town such as this one.

I actually did not. I watched it long enough (3 seasons) to anticipate the lack of payoff, and also see the endless shell game that the writers were playing.

That seems like a clever comment, but a moments thought shows it to be vapid and empty… much like Lost.

Absolutely! Also I would like to expose these innocents to The League of Gentlemen.

After typing this I realized immediately the best example of "Style of humour that wouldn't translate to the US" is Vic & Bob.
I can't imagine showing anyone Shooting Stars and getting any reaction other than derision.
