Yeah, you're probably right. Like I said, beyond reputation, I don't really know much about the differences between the burroughs. It seems to me though that the difference between North, East and Old Style York is pretty much nill.

I've been watching these videos of "The Girls" performances today, and man is she incredible in them: https://www.youtube.com/wat…
Not the best voice, but that dress+those moves!
Yeah, the 6ix stylization is the worst. Put it this way: If you live in Etobicoke, your address doesn't say 1 Drake Street, Drizzy Plaza, Toronto. It says 1 Drake Street, Drizzy Plaza, Etobicoke.
Well, I mean, the 6 boroughs are still used when talking about Toronto all the time. It's not like they're completely forgotten entities.
Also, as far as I can tell, it's the boroughs thing, not the area codes thing.
I don't think I've ever heard them played on the clavichord. That must be wicked. I have the rest of the Gould recordings digitally, but I only have Vol III on vinyl. I was so surprised to come across it!
It's one of the recordings he did for Columbia in the 60s. Book I volume III, in fact. It's such a great performance.
Initially I couldn't believe they were buried under stacks of late-era Genesis reissues and copies of the King & I. And then I was really shocked when he gave them to me for free. The benefits of having (relatively) obscure musical tastes I guess.
I went to a record store the other day and bought a Smokey Robinson record, then started digging in their bargain crates and found a Glenn Gould recording of the Well-Tempered Clavier and The Kick Inside. The owner had never heard of either, so he gave me them both for free!
Calling The Simpsons "a rip off" of The Flintstones and Flintstones "a rip off" of The Honeymooners is missing the point somewhat, don't you think? Both The Simpsons and The Flintstones were designed as parodies of or homages to family-oriented sitcoms, as typified by The Honeymooners. They're not ripping them off so…
I saw the newest (I think) trailer from Man From UNCLE yesterday, and it looks like a ton of fun…but was it just me or is the trailer bananas crazy-town weird? It felt like it was about 6 different trailers sewn together. It kept reaching regular trailer climaxes, then rather than show the name of the movie, it just…
I absolutely loathed the movie. I still get kinda mad when I think about it…but the one-take thing was damn cool. It really allowed him to achieve the kind of disorientating, dizzying, non-stop motion the film required. Shame the script, themes, characters and message were all offensively half-baked drivel.
Man, now I have to listen to Animal Collective all day.
I saw a picture of a dog today and made me smile a little
How do you feel about Alien^3?
Yeah, there's definitely an energy there in the original cast eps that is lacking from the Troy/Shirley-less ones. There's a very noticeable change in the feel of the show without those guys around.
Yes but who to follow up on there!?
Don't worry nerd, I already read your writing all the time! You're really quite good!
Now that The Dissolve is shut down, I am SOL when it comes to people writing interesting, thoughtful film reviews and commentary (The Solute excepted, of course). Does anyone have any recommendations for critics or sites to look out for?
Wicked. Done.
Wait, Basic Sandwich or Basic Story? (either is fine, I just wanna know)
