Joss Whedon has a soothing voice.
I wish we could have Superhero movies forever… and *ever*… and *ever*…
To be fair… the MCU is a hell of a machine to run by now. Call the movies bland or "just good enough" or overcrowded - but given how many "movies people like" they've made by now, someone at Marvel's got taste. Just look at BATMAN V SUPERMAN to see how that kind of top-down management could go wrong.
"Bash Marvel not, for I am an ass. Though it be not written down - yet forget not…"
How to Succeed: Satire of American business.
That's true! But there are also people who don't like listening to a cast album because they don't think it would capture enough of the experience. An online critic I enjoy, recently on Twitter: "IT JUST FEELS WRONG! What if I eventually see the show??"
It's easy to be resentful when something most people will have no chance of seeing anytime soon is not only getting so much attention, but in a way that suggests you *have* to love this thing you can't see.
King: "But then the timeline got all screwed up, and I came back, and it turned out he'd desecrated Maximum Overdrive instead!!!"
I dunno, I think Kirk Cameron's Saving Christmas was plenty entertaining on its own.
Good idea—I'd probably steal it.
Um, excuse me: When are we gonna get an anniversary article about BONUS STAGE, huh??
"Any last requests, pig?"
"Yeah, loosen the knot and let me go."
"Dr. Strange!"
"That's pretty good. (pause) But it's taken!"
Maybe I could see how "A Guy Like You" might fit in better for that writer - but all I can think about is:
"Hellfire" would be a lot more effective if its main melody wasn't used THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE MOVIE. They may have been better off just leaving the "bell-ringing" theme for this and "Heaven's Light": it'd be fresh, and the two songs would serve as the fantastic counterpoint that they do outside the movie.
I think the article was wrong about Danny Elfman writing the song: Rob Thomas is listed as the writer on Wiki, and I believe it, because it sounds SO MUCH like the *quintessential* Rob Thomas Tune.
"My Funny Friend and Me": No, it doesn't fit with EMPEROR'S NEW GROOVE - but it's such a lovely song, and definitely a case where the "Sting is so mellow and therefore dull" cliche doesn't apply.
"Let It Go" is ice-skating music. That's literally the only impression that song ever makes on me.
Who here remembers "Ask a Ninja"?
