Agreed. And, it should be a requirement that everyone with a nice, clean square Mercedes should have a set of Monobloc IIs - maybe not for full time use, but they definitely should be swapped on for periods.
WTF was Audi doing in Durham? Was there something going on this week that I missed?
Oh wow, you don’t get out much, do you?
Holy shit - 15 city/19 highway? I can do that pretty easy in the LR4, which is a 6,000lb brick with a supercharged V6. Hell, I can easily beat that in a Range Rover Sport, which is s 5,000 pound slightly-rounded brick with a supercharged V8.
Same. (We must be the same age.) Those cars seemed somehow other-worldly at the time - nowhere else could you get 500hp and 500lb/ft, much less in a relatively normal sedan. Have always wanted to go back and try one, but never had the chance.
Huh, so this is what my normal friends feel like when I say shit like “What do you mean you can’t tell that’s a Volvo 960? Can’t you see the headlights?!?”
That drift mode is actually a really (really, really, extremely) clever move on Mercedes part. First, it’s going to save them a ton of money - they don’t have to certify a RWD and an AWD version, and dealers don’t have to worry about choosing to stock one over the other and trying to figure out what the customer…
*9-4X.
Seriously, you’ve never seen one? My BMW dealer isn’t exactly huge, and they’ve had at least 6 come through. They even had 2 at the time for a little while. Maybe yours just keeps them inside alkyl of the time?
Oh my gosh, it’s even a diesel. I always figured my fellow diesel Mercedes drivers were cut from a different cloth, but I guess there are always exceptions.
Haha, yes, they aren’t a terribly common site, although I believe all of the above are involved in something of a daily-driver rotation, as I see them on weekdays in traffic. Except for the old guy, but I’ve seen him down at the coast, which is 3 hours away. I like that they aren’t just garage queens, myself.
I’ve never seen anyone in my town (about 5 i8s) that even remotely fit this guy’s description. I mean, I guess I’m closest, because I’m not ‘old’, but my friend that has one is a little older, there’s an old guy with a blue one, a middle-aged lady with a grey one like in the video, and a normal BMW-driver looking…
Oh for God’s sake, how many times do I have to scream that the i8 is not hard to get into and out of (especially out of) once you’ve done it more than twice? It really isn’t.
Gosh, I always forget Mazda made these, especially the gen-2 version.
I concur on the Mariner - the taillights just look too square to be any of the Jeeps, which are usually very rectangular. And it had too be something tall and boxy - I don’t think the Patriot or Highlander have both the ground clearance and greenhouse height to fit the bill here.
Umm, C/D Just published a story about a non-comfy, non-fresh Wrangle with a $45k price tag. I don’t think it’s crazy out if the question for something like a Bronco to cost Grand Cherokee money.
I would be okay with that! And the thing is, unlike for the cars, the already have highly flexible platforms with engine options that would work.
While I’m afraid you’re right, in the back of my mind a little voice keeps saying ‘Yeah, but the Mustang, Camaro, and Challenger are also hopelessly retro, specialized, expensive-to-build vehicles that do really well. And the Bronco has all the name recognition they do, and is even an SUV to boot. Surely Ford can…
