Familiarity does indeed breed contempt, my feelings about Andalucia are complicated having spent so many years there, on and off.

These were indeed Andalucian firms! How did you guess?! (Like there are shedloads of foreigners living up north ;))
Yeah sounds familiar, I worked as a truck driver for a couple of Spanish firms (never again) and the pay was so shitty that a lot of our food was prepared like this.
OK, I now like him and want to see this even more.
I wasn’t a teenager but, I’ll reiterate not lending your vehicle to passing numpties who say they know how to drive. Just because someone says they know, are sincere in that they believe they know how to, doesn’t actually mean that they have any fcuking idea how to drive whatsoever.
Oh yeah, dead right. ‘90s were the sweet spot where they got it right. I’d also say that a lot of brands seemed to reach their acme of quality in the 1990s, between crappily made and over complicated. Certainly Toyota were and Mercedes too I think.

It’s our ape heritage, if there’s one thing little apes need to do it’s hold on - originally to Mummy nowadays to iPads, and we all know how much little kids love electronic items.
How early? A year early? A month? 5 minutes?
Don’t listen to your parents on cars, you love them very much but their advice is not the greatest. Also insist upon them having their cars rustproofed from new if they must buy British.
It’d have to be a f*cking great car before I swapped my country’s sovereignty over it, let alone a Vauxopel. This being Jalopnik I might be in the minority though.
It used to be that Land-Rovers with 5 doors were called “Station Wagons”, even here in the UK. Now I’d call that an “Estate Car” as the wagon does not fit that vehicle, it’s a car not a truck.
I was told there’s a bit more to it than that, Renault designed it and GM worked out how to build it - which is apparently more work than it sounds.
Bit hilly for the fens.
Also, best not introduce yourself with “Hi, I’m Randy”. Randall might be better.
