OK now I understand.

The Disco axles are Rover type, they are OK, tough and reliable enough, especially compared to the old Rover axles of the 1950s and 60s.

The Defender has no axle diff locks as standard but is permanent 4x4 with the drive distributed through a 3rd differential in the transfer case, you can lock at this any time in any gear* giving a 50/50 torque split between front and rear axles - equivalent to 4x4 on a part time system.

Yikes! Yeah so if I bought a Wrangler I recon I’d upgrade the axle right away.

Interesting to know...

I seem to remember reading that she absolutely insisted on driving herself and Chelsea down the store overuling the Secret Services vocal objections and proceeded to take out a number of plant pots outside the store while the Secret Service men sitting in the back clucked nervously and no doubt wondered how they were

Just the Rubicons or other Wranglers too?

I haven’t ever seen a Jeep with diff locks which is the only way I can it would surpass the Defender off road. That was always L-Rs Achilles heel - their refusal to supply axle diff locks.

They’re Sith Efrikan not Brits.

What, you haven’t seen the movie?

What you missed the character development? Max and Nux, Seriously?

Old? That’s near as damnit new condition, apart from the carpets and underbody showing some slight signs of age.

I’d heard the Rover/Buick V8 doesn’t look very impressive to Americans, especially nowadays.

That’s why I like my Defender, it has permanent 4x4 via a 3rd diff so it runs in 4x4 all the time. And no “chatter” unless I was silly enough to lock the diff on tarmac.

She is so Cherman. Which is great btw.

Yup, can’t blame the motor for the bushings going... and yup again I’ve done about 40k miles on them. Can blame VW though... Although in their defence I do like throwing it around winding country lanes, but it’s meant to lap that stuff up, it’s a Gti ffs.

Interesting. I’d thought maybe it was down to the horsepower rating - mine is a 150 seems low tuned at that and has done 212k miles.

Well there’s 212k+ on mine and it obviously wasn’t serviced well, or at all, by previous monkeys owners.

Not the 6000 sux from Robocop then, which was my first thought upon seeing the pic.

I think I see some Austin Maxi in there.
