“Your special order came in but there’s a problem. It’s got VIN etching, trucoat, ziebart, and fabric protector. Now we can’t take that all off, but we’ll make you a deal for $3000.00, that’s 50% off what we usually charge. In fact, we’re taking a loss. So the new price is ....”

The dealer claims that when the truck came in, instead of being placed in special orders, the Maverick was placed in its regular dealer stock which is why it was sold.”

It’s the same with RVs of the sea/lakes: sailboats. Good 30+ year old boats will change hands every year for like $1000 as people trade up to bigger, better rigs. Your first boat can get you cruising to the Caribbean for $1k, with some work. Part of the reason why these markets are so difficult is because there are a

They reached market saturation point, the venn diagram of people wanting an RV, people who can afford an RV and people already with an RV is damn near a circle. There are no more well off preppers and remote workers to sell to for a few years.

As they should.

Buying used is the way to go. The previous owner has probably fixed all the problems it left the factory with (which were probably numerous). They’re all built like garbage.

3. The price of these things is pure fantasy for many people right now.

There are definitely some bargains out there right now, in all categories. We’ve always bought used and never regretted it. New RVs are a mug’s game.

1. Covid is over. People aren’t scared about going to hotels anymore.

Weird. Normal people don’t want to buy a $50k car with 7% interest rates, tech that’s outdated faster than a modern smartphone, a business model that’s constantly pushing microservices, and tracks all your movements with no way to opt out or find out where that information is going?

The stress of dealing with the INS again and again was what made me just take the plunge and apply for citizenship. It was even more stressful a process, but at least finally it is over.

On the flip side, 6 months ago I was able to fedex a passport renewal for my son from the US to the UK and get the new passport back again within 4 weeks. So yeah, the US is doing it wrong.
And, just because it’s today, can you stop throwing my tea in the harbour ? :-)

Mailed mine in for renewal at the end of March. Received it a couple weeks ago. About 13 weeks then. Maybe 14. No trips planned, just had a year left on it. Figured it was the responsible thing to do...

2 hrs and we switch drivers.  Everyone arrives in a better mood.

Getting the kids to behave in the back seat #1

As the driver, if I don’t get to drink booze, no one gets to drink booze. When my college fraternity decided to go on a 13 hour Spring Break road trip from Missouri to Panama City Beach, FL, I volunteered to be the first driver. You can probably see where this is going. Guess who had to do the entire drive solo,

I had a look at the list and I suspect it’s mostly invalid pseudo science.

If I am asleep on the plane and I am wearing the “Please Wake Me Up For Dinner” badge that the airlines in my country give us, then I would like to be woken up for dinner.

My pet peeve is airport employees who treat everyone like the worst entitled travelers and the viral crazies. Every time I fly a TSA officer or other airport employee makes some backhanded comment like bouncers who treat everyone like belligerent drunks at bar close, even if you were the DD and had zero drinks.

People putting their filthy feet all over everything - the tray table, seat, arm rests, the works. Then they walk with bare feet into the toilet - seriously?
