I think what they’re saying is that even if it helps with eye strain, it might not necessarily help you get to sleep faster. I agree that it’s definitely easier on my eyes, but remember that having it on also decreases the overall brightness so it’s not necessarily the wavelength of the light that causes the strain.

Yes, mustard gas, aka sulfur mustard, aka dichlorodiethyl sulfide, is a chemical weapon and is in no way relevant to cooking with powdered mustard seed. Stirring away from your face is still good advice though, for the reason mentioned.

I’ve done this before. I never buy really sweet cereals, but I did once not realizing how sweet it would be. I just mixed it with some plain Cheerios and it was much better. I usually mix something in with my Cheerios anyway, such as fresh blueberries.
I definitely wasn’t recommending this for burgers, you’d end up with raw ground beef in the center. This is for adding to a sauce or anything where you’re breaking it up and cooking it thoroughly.
You’re missing nothing, you’re absolutely right. It’s actually better your way than how most people “brown” their ground beef. By the time the beef has thawed, you’ve developed a nice maillard crust.
