I think it likely comes down to what you’re used to drinking. If you’re used to Diet, something different will taste bad. I had a similar reaction when drinking regular Dew recently when there was no Diet available.

Something else to note about Zero is it is more caffeinated than Diet Dew and contains no concentrated orange juice. (Which has always been part of the weird flavor profile of Diet Dew.)
