StartupMaster is good for prompting you once when the browser starts up.. makes it a bit less annoying.

DriveMapPro allows you to do that with whatever remote control app you want to use.. or something else entirely, like a custom script.
DriveMapPro looks a lot nicer IMO & makes it easy to launch apps like VNC against a server. Way better than a login script.
@c0rinne: Google ditch plenty of products.. Google Gears is one I used on our internal systems & that got discontinued earlier this year.
Just use USB Detect and Launch & it'll do what you want.. not just start a backup, but whatever you can think up in script form. Costs absolutely nothing & is completely silent (if you want it to be).
@kobalt9: Exactly what I do.. in fact I set it to our local police station :)
FileMover is a similar, but more generic app, for monitoring folders & kicking off scripts.. could be worth a look; [mattcollinge.wordpress.com]
Similar to FileMover [mattcollinge.wordpress.com]
This is one I wrote.. it allows you to over-type the URL with whatever you like [mattcollinge.wordpress.com]
Check out this QR Code Bookmarklet that'll generate a QR Code for whatever page you're on.. useful for long URLs you want to view on your mobile...
@mattc: second pic of my set up...
@everalainagi: Eh? The strap is threaded through the plastic holder..

@BK216: I agree.. but we'll be stuck on XP in our corporate environment for a long time.
I use an internal drive which is mirrored to a drive connected into an eSATA dock. That drive ends up in a fire safe, well away from the PC. AllwaySync does a good job at mirroring the data, and for automation I often use USB Detect and Launch. #windows
Just install Launchy and you'll never need to go in the Program Files menu again :) #startmenu
The problem is that the box doesn't do 5.1 sound which is a dealbreaker for me :( #feature
Nice idea. Shame it needs a network connection.. make sure you get a decent roaming tariff otherwise you'll owe a fair amount for data when you get back home! :)
