I have to admit, I sorely miss the olive bar at Ingles. The blue cheese stuffed olives are the shit...

Cherry Garcia all the way...

They need to figure out a way to shoehorn in the Terminator franchise so we can all make our 4th grade Trapper Keeper drawings of Robocop vs. Terminator come to life.

You firmly tell the can once and only once it to open and remind it you don’t do warning shots...

as far as least useful, I’d go strainer and grater. with a knife you could chop just about anything finely enough to emulate the approximation of it grated.

Same. It would make shit a lot harder without some of them, but technically you could do most things with those two.

God I feel old, cause i saw the headline and I started thinking of various NES titles, not stuff that’s been out for less than 20 years.

To be perfectly fair, after watching some of Tiger King, it would be far more shocking if someone had unearthed a clip where he went on a rant explaining why its not ok for white people to say the N-word. You don’t look at someone who looks like that and come away thinking ‘Here’s a guy with a pretty tight grasp on

The one exception to boiling cabbage is if you’re trying to get the leaves loosened so you can make stuffed cabbage rolls. But even then its more of a boil and shock situation rather than boiling it to death.

Considering all the Aldi’s I’ve ever been to close up around 8pm, I’ve never thought to go by one really late at night. I’d imagine they probably have considered that possibility and that they have additional security features to keep someone from doing something like that.

Oh the agony of getting to an Aldi’s and realizing you forgot a damned quarter. And the ectasy of someone just giving you their cart rather than reclaim their quarter. Those people are saints. Pretty sure it’s bad Aldi’s etiquette to get a free buggy from a fellow shopper and then not pay it forward by then giving

My dad (a midwesterner) was familiar with Aldi’s and they apparently had them out in the midwest before they expanded. They’re pretty ubiquitous in NC now (can’t speak to the rest of the east coast, but most small-mid size cities in NC probably have one). Lidl is just getting a foothold in NC and only has a handful of

That’s true. I live in NC and in my area the big regional distributor is MDI and they do pretty good. Most grocery stores in my area have good quality produce (we’re also close enough to the sun belt that we can get stuff sooner than other areas of the country I’d imagine as well).

Real question: when is the last time you tried? If we’re talking a matter of months or weeks, then maybe you just have shitty Aldi’s, but if its been years, you may want to take another shot. Just saying.

Oh yeah. Their produce used to be shit, and now, short of a roadside stand on the edge of some farmer’s field you’re not going to find cheaper (or better) produce just about anywhere. I’m really particular to their eggplants, which are super cheap.

Depending on the prices at those other stores and what you average on gas mileage, going that 12 extra miles may still work out in your favor, especially if you do like the author and use Aldi’s to stock up on staples.

Yeah, some of their stuff is great and then it just up and disappears, sometimes only for a little bit, sometimes forever.

I’ve been a dedicated Aldi’s shopper for years, but alas, my heart (and wallet) may have found another: a competing chain, also out of Germany, Lidl is basically Aldi’s on steroids. They tend to be cheaper on most things than even Aldi’s. There isn’t one really close to me, but my sister lives near one and she picks

I like thier Indian simmer sauces (their Tikka Masala makes for a good dish). Aldi’s produce is their best feature. Their meats have gotten better but in the beginning they tended to be a little bit higher than what you’d want to pay. And their canned goods are great.

I’ve always wondered why Pyrex didn’t take the obvious step of etching the markings into the side of their measuring cups as well as painting them on. Like not even a super deep etch, just enough that when/if the paint chips or fades you can still measure with it.
