there’s a difference between “People who enjoy playing games” and “Capital ‘G’ Gamers”

People who enjoy playing games are normal, sane, rational people who like the hobby. ‘Gamers’ send death threats, freak the fuck out about the stupidest shit, behave toxically, and have turned Consumerism into an identity.  

You can play & enjoy games without being a “gamer”. Being a Gamer(tm), personally, has a negative connotation, and has long stopped meaning someone who simply plays games as a hobby imo. To me, these people think it’s some sort of lifestyle, and they foam at the mouth when they see all those dumb ads about “gamer”…

I’ve had the opposite problem at workplaces, where my cubicle was like a sauna and wore shorts all the time, even in winter.
