As the oldest sibling in my family, I have to agree that this is a solid choice.

Same for me when I go to sporting events with one or more of my brothers. I remind myself that I can mouth “he’s my brother” at the camera and then kiss his cheek in a cute and affectionately sisterly way.

I know! When I was in college, my roommate’s campus job was to do the whole welcome wagon for prospective students thing. She did tours, etc, which meant that sometimes we’d have girls come and stay the night with us to “see what living in a dorm is like.” It was often a pain in the ass, since the room had to be

The last time I was prank called, I was in college (we still had room phones and a college phone directory in those days) and my grandpa was deathly ill and in the hospital. When I got a call in the middle of the night, I was sure he was dead. When it was just some doofus trying to be funny, I let him know exactly

My dad’s cousin is a morning radio host on a country station in a good-sized Midwestern city. He’s a great guy and you’d never know he was on the radio if you didn’t ask him what he does for a living. I’ve met some of his coworkers from the show, and they’re good and fun people too. If I didn’t hate country music, I’d

Behold:

I agree it’s weird. I also don’t like how it limits people as to who they can portray. For me, cosplay is all about the love people have for their respective fandoms, the amount of work and creativity they put into creating their amazing costumes, and the sheer fun they have while showing off their handiwork, as well

Regarding the Moxxi face paint: Black face was used by white entertainers to impersonate and mock black people. White greasepaint was used by white (not black) entertainers to pretend to be a clown. Different history, different context, different reactions now. Thus, white greasepaint does not equal white face.

Your username is amazing, btw.

Agreed. I was so disappointed when I read the book, because I thought it was pretty clear that the author didn’t have much love for or understanding of Austen’s work or style. It could have been so much better.

You keep saying that every man will be rejected many times in his life and that is proof that every man will experience the worst case scenario. I think you need to revisit the original quote. Atwood doesn’t say that men fear rejection, she says that men fear being laughed at. She isn’t just talking about rejection,

Only, it doesn’t imply that at all. It’s talking about fear. So, when a guy goes out on a first date, his friend might say something like, “Good luck bro. Hope she doesn’t shoot you down.” When a woman goes out on a first date, her friend might say something like, “Make sure your phone is charged before you leave, and

Sooooooo, I decided for some reason to click around the website a bit, just to see what kind of fuckery was going on, and I saw this article (https://archive.is/tpfrW), which is just blatantly about trying to establish an all-white nation. Hardly surprising that misogyny and racism are gaily skipping hand-in-hand

I had already started my mental list of people who would go and protest with me, but there isn’t a meeting in Indiana. I wish I could believe it’s because there are no misogynists in my home state . . .

I am completely incapable of singing when I start to feel the tiniest bit teary, so I’m impressed.

It seemed odd to me for the same reasons—she just said it wasn’t such a problem in Jamaica, and then the books are going to Jamaica? Does not compute.

Completely agree. As a voracious reader, I love to recommend books to people, and I want them to love the books like I did—because I want to share something that meant a lot to me. So when I heard she didn’t care for Where the Red Fern Grows, there was a tiny part of my brain going, “But, but, I LOVED IT.”

My cat hated the snow. She’d take a step, shake off a paw, take a step, shake off a paw. It took FOREVER for her to get anywhere.

“I want a pencil.”

She has such pretty eyes! I like how the dark brown contrasts with her light hair. My little brother has dark brown eyes like that and had white-blond hair as a kid. He was so cute you wouldn’t believe it.
