Ok, I’ll bite...what’s #1?

I think China Beach has this problem. I was just about the age where that show a big effect on me (both in my viewpoints of war and a crush on Dana Delaney). I have looked for it streaming a few times, but I haven’t really tried to watch it because I hear the music is not the same.

I didn’t find your post corny at all, and it was nice to have some outside validation of what I have been thinking. I had the talk with my mom a couple of days ago. I am still upset over having to make the decision not to go, but I would rather my family be safe.

My twins came home from college, and one is now home

You should definitely be proud of your son!
I am having so much guilt about Thanksgiving with my family. We’ve really only been there once during the summer and outside during this whole time. They are 3 hours away, so it can be a day trip.

I had already asked my Mom not to invite my aunts and uncles a couple of months

Yeah, I have hidden or unfriended (depending upon the level of their craziness) the ones who say, “If it is your time, there isn’t nothing you can do about it.”

So, if you get cancer, should you do anything about it? I mean, you will only die if it is your time, right? Why waste the money on the expenses of the

I loved that show--it was so much fun!

Yeah, it is revolting to see how little was done. Even in the 2 years that Republicans had all 3, they didn’t get much done.
I was really hoping Dems would take back the Senate, and we would see a flurry of legislation. It might still happen, but I don’t have good feelings about the Georgia runoffs.

One thing that I

Those are great counter points, of course, and I hope similar voting rights laws can be created, but I am not sure it would happen unless the Dems have the Senate.

I completely agree with you about needing election reform, but most of that is up to states per the Constitution (and, to my understanding, this is why the Supreme Court has mostly stayed out of these things in the past few days).

But we do need some massive election reform, but that requires making in-roads on some

It is, but the senate doesn’t appear to be flipping. It is going to be a long 2 years, and I don’t know how many republican Senate seats will be up for grabs in 2022.

That is because Roadhouse was loosely based upon the McElroy story.

I have Dawn in my shower as well. I still get poison ivy rashes, but not nearly as bad (I think I probably go over the 20-30 minute time rule for exposure).
I have always been extremely susceptible to it, however, so I am much happier with just a few small rash dots for a few days.

I would also stress that people be aware of Virginia Creeper. It has 5 leaves in a star shape pattern. About 25% of the population is allergic and react like it is poison ivy. I think it always turns red in the fall before turning brown.

I hope all the hoarders who have been jacking up prices on Ebay, Amazon, and Walmart take a bath on their remaining stock. I was waiting all summer to get one for my son—finally found a decent online bundle at GameStop a couple of months back.

Agreed. I have friends that I want to just blow up at and ask how they feel about “her emails” now.

I don’t know if it will—I’m in the Midwest. I have seen many universities start to go away from some of the standardized tests, however, but I am a bit cynical about why that is. My beliefs on the matter:

I don’t mind them. Students are asked to do much more analysis than I was (I had access to a scientific calculator). I can teach quite a bit more math with some of the tools that calculators have, whereas I would be stuck looking for watered down contrived examples if students didn’t have access to them.
The SAT

Take it for what you will, I read it a few months ago on the math education subreddit from a linked article that another user posted. The article looked legit, but I won’t claim it was authoritative. That said, several of my AP Calc students took the AP exam online from home this year, and a calculator wasn’t really

I hope it means we go away from needing them on those standardized tests. As a math teacher, those tests are the only reason I keep recommending them to students—there are lots of free, online alternatives that do just as good a job and could save students an embarrassingly over priced $100 to $120 that they could

I feel like the math I teach is important, but it is secondary to taking care of students. I am not perfect by any means of the imagination, but I do try my best. It has been 24 years now-I hope to last for another 15 years or so, unless I get too crabby.
I am a firm believer that one of the worst things we can do to
