Oh, I agree with that the original post isn't saying to give up instantly—otherwise, we would never learn what our limits are.
My post was probably more of a rant on how many times I hear, "Math? I was never any good at that," or I hear a parent tell their kid is is OK to be bad at math because the parent was bad at

I would agree with this. I wish there were more time to "play" mathematically with things. This is one of the main reasons many people don't see math as a creative endeavor, but it really truly is. Math is not just a bunch of rules that some dead people created a long time ago...

"It may free us from self-blame if we're just not getting the hang of something. And if we've tried and tried and still don't succeed, it may give us permission to quit and try something else. "

I think there may be some truth to this. There were some troops dropped when they changed to policy to admit gay scouts. I would really be interested in those numbers, though, and I wonder if it was a precursor to making a change in the leader rules.

I agree with you that it is time for the membership discrimination rule to go. I still keep my kids in scouts, and I still volunteer. I am vocal with my opinion (that a good leader is a good leader, no matter what they believe), but probably not enough. We all need to keep the pressure up.

You and I are in the same boat. Our pack and troop are great secular groups that really just want to enjoy the outdoors and make good choices. The BSA currently does not do this when it comes to leaders. But I also don't agree with everything the Democrats believe, but consider myself a Democrat. I don't believe

I am saddened by this. I know I, along with many other families in my scouting group, voice our opinion that sexual orientation doesn't matter on all BSA surveys. The move last year to accept gay boys as members was long overdue. The move to accept gay leaders will come, but not soon enough.

And now someone makes a reduction fallacy to justify a bunch of people who don't even belong in the same class as humans forcing planes in to buildings and that we "deserved" it.

Exactly. I always wanted to learn to juggle, and the summer I was home with my newborn twin sons, I grabbed a "Klutz" book and figured it out. I don't feel like I am athletically talented at all, but I can now juggle well enough to impress most of my friends. The day I finally master juggling clubs and juggling 5

Came to say the same thing.

It has been difficult with a family of 4, but we manage to save for both college tuition and retirement each month. I like to pretend that my pension (public school teacher) and my wife's pension (healthcare audit/management positioin) won't be there when we retire. We don't even acknowledge her social security. We

Wow. I must be a tight wad—no way I spend that on average...

You are probably correct...averages can be extremely skewed by outliers. I would have preferred to know what the median non-essential daily spending is.

I didn't really see much when I checked out #stlcards...seemed pretty typical reaction, both positive and negative.

As a Rams fan, I will go with "slightly" also. I have hopes we might see them improve in these next few weeks. Even though we had a couple of TDs, I still think there are issues with the Rams being ineffective in the red zone.

Well, he made it clear he just wanted the "women", so judging from your name, you're not getting any of HIS spunk to admire!

Real Myst is for the ipad (and steam it looks like), and I believe is a cleaned up port of the game (updated visuals). I haven't gotten too far in it yet (I did beat Myst back in the day), but it looks and plays like I remember.

Gotta love that Bright Flight Scholarship! It really helped me get through school without incurring a ton of debt.

I love this game! Just bought it again for the iPad and I am playing the heck out of it, and so are my twin sons! It is fun to see them go through all the ups and downs of the game!

I have been using this remedy for years. I also find that really cold water works also, but not as well. I always wonder if it is an "overload" of the nerves in that region.
