They were on their way to a much easier playoff series against Ottawa until they blew a 2-0 lead on Sunday, and should have upset the best team in the league before blowing another 2-0 lead last night. New players, same old leafs.

My apologies. I love pointing out potential double standards, especially when it relates to complete strangers. Every time I meet a couple I make sure to tell the guy that if he was ugly or unemployed his partner would probably be fucking somebody else.

Arsenal fan, so less biased. Dortmund are great and their stadium looks awsome, and apparently their fans are really cool also. And I really wish the gunners had hired Klopp before he went to Liverpool.

Jeez, as if there aren’t enough other articles to be cynical about. Why shit all over something cool like this?

So Stroman’s a face now?

Yeah, just like twenty years ago a RB who got knocked unconscious from a shot to the head would be back in the huddle a few plays later. I too miss the days when we were able to watch young men take decades off of their lives for our entertainment, and somehow not feel the least bit guilty about it.

I think I stopped for lunch there once on my way to Chicago. No wait, that might have been Lafayette. Or... Muncie? Does Fort Wayne have a PF Chang’s?

You can tell after the first knockdown that he’s praying for the ref to stop the fight. I get the feeling that the ref wanted to see him get punched in the head a few more times.

While you’re at it, tell your congressman or senator that if the president was legitimately moved by photos of Assad’s victims, maybe he shouldn’t have closed the borders to those exact same people. How can anybody justify involving the American military in a civil war while refusing to even provide asylum to that

This, 100%. A tactical strike aimed at impairing Syria’s ability to carry out chemical attacks against civilians seems like an acceptable response in this situation. The problem is that anything involving this president launching missiles scares the shit out of me, especially because he’s clearly been waiting for the

It’s a serious moral dilemma that academics and foreign policy experts have been debating since at least the fall of the Soviet Union, and there’s no simple answer.

It might not provide an immediate ratings boost in North America, but if the NHL has any interest in growing the sport globally the Olympics are absolutely their best platform. The 1992 Olympics probably didn’t improve the NBA’s American ratings, but it definitely helped the NBA long-term.

I bet you’d trade all the stanley cups in the world for a new president.

How many MLB players ditched their teams for a couple of weeks in the middle of the season to go play in the olympics?

This seems really shortsighted to me, for both parties. The olympics are a great way to showcase high-caliber hockey to a lot of people who never normally watch the sport. The NHL should be more than happy to send their players for free.

You don’t think showcasing the sport’s best players on a huge international stage in games that are uniquely meaningful helps the NHL as a league?

Fighting isn’t allowed in high school hockey (although it wouldn’t shock me if it was tolerated in philly). The real question is why, in hockey culture, beating the shit out of the other team is considered a reasonable reaction to being blown out 7-1.

Typical deadspin. You didn’t even mention that the mets won! Tebow’s a winner and he doesn’t care about putting up flashy numbers or knowing where to stand.

Jesus. The nhl needs to outlaw fighting just so that this particular brand of asshole goes extinct. I can’t believe this guy gets paid to act like that.

Exactly. But then Auston Matthews never plays hockey so Toronto drafts Laine first overall, the Jets lose their one glimmer of hope and Winnipeg remains Canada’s much colder version of pre-Lebron Cleveland.
